Painting Frida Kahlo with The Iman Project + Lavender & Mint

It has been a month full of Frida Kahlo celebrations from the Dallas Museum of Art “Mexico 1900-1950” exhibit to The Iman Project + Lavender & Mint Frida Kahlo: Art, Garden, Life Painting Workshop.

I am such a HUGE fan of Frida Kahlo and quite frankly, what is there not to love? Frida Kahlo embodies #GirlPower and her paintings are iconic worldwide.

Bree Clarke of The Iman Project invited me to her Frida Kahlo painting workshop this month and I could not pass up the opportunity to paint one of my favorite female artists. Additionally, Bree herself is a #GirlBoss who owns her own farmhouse table business and has hosted so many incredible “workshops with a purpose” for women around town.

All of Bree’s workshops are held at the Lavender + Mint Design Studio inside the Richardson Mercantile, which is such a cute spot to visit.

While I am not new to painting workshops, I always find it challenging to paint people, let alone one single person that is the focus of the painting. I took this opportunity as a way to challenge myself and make Frida Kahlo proud. I painted her to the best of my ability and am pretty happy with the results.

We had fabulous painting instructors from Bottle & Bottega of Plano who helped us along the way and refreshing cocktails from Texas Wildflower Vodka, which was the perfect drink to sip on while painting.

The Makeup Zone was also provided women with mini-makeovers and Socialite Pink had a booth selling gorgeous jewelry.

Besides the painting and cocktails, we were treated to lunch by The Tamale Company (my weakness!) and cookies from Sweet Dream Custom Cookies. The cookies were probably my favorite since they looked like colorful Mexican dresses and were so tasty!

Our tables were so adorable from the cute paint brush place cards by Scribbles Lettering and the goodie bags that included lip balm by Sasha’s Hand Poured and bracelets from Expressions Bracelets.

To top it off, I was a lucky winner of a Kessler Pie Company jarred “pucker up” pie. If you know me, I have a big sweet tooth.

I had such a great time at the Frida Kahlo painting workshop and if you are ever looking for events to attend with your girlfriends, then look no further to The Iman Project + Lavender & Mint Studio. There are so many great workshops coming up and I heard there is another Frida Kahlo workshop in the works.
